Fantastic work from the lab of Claudia Vickers from the University of Queensland, Brisbane around metabolic engineering in Saccharomyces cerevisiae.  They indeed developed very elegant strategies for metabolic engineering (e.g., flux redirecting, metabolic modulation) in yeast cells based on auxin-mediated protein degradation.  Selective degradation of essential proteins allowed them to redirect metabolic flux and modulate metabolism in terpene-producing yeast strains.  Implementation of  the FAST labeling technology of The Twinkle Factory allowed them to observe single cell level changes in the induction of the GAL promoter in their engineered Saccharomyces cerevisiae strains.  This hence opens new prospects for further studies to understand metabolic and genetic regulation in yeast.
